HISTORIC ELK LAKE HOME UPDATE

This gracious lakefront home was built in the 1940's by the client's grandfather.  The foyer, living and dining rooms have wood panels with a very unique faux finish which is original to the home.  
The clients wished to update the living and dining rooms to have a lighter feel, since the home is now used primarily as a summer home.
They specifically asked that I work with the existing wall finish.  I lightened the rooms by painting doors, casework and trim a soft creamy white; repainting the ceiling, updating the window treatments, and doing mostly new upholstered furniture, and rugs, while utilizing their excellent collection of original artwork.
The result is a lovely casual elegance that honors the past and welcomes fresh generations to this historic family home.
